DETOUR BAND (USA/FRA/GER) |

DETOUR is the
first "rockin' country" band in Europe and is surely
considered one of the most interesting band in every aspect:
musically, vocally and scenically.
The band was formed by NATALIE SHELAR and JEAN
MARIE PESCHIUTTA from 1986 and all its members are
experienced musicians that have played in different kind of music
like country-rock, country western, rock, rockabilly, blues,
westcoast, hillbilly e bluegrass.
NATALIE SHELAR (from Tucson, Arizona USA, lead vocal and rhythm
guitar) and JEAN MARIE PESCHIUTTA (from Paris, France, lead
guitar, banjo and vocal) have been playing, writing and recording
songs together for twenty years in several country and bluegrass
bands (Detour, Arizona, Freewheelin', Bluegrass Rendezvous,
Turquoise) and they took part in the most important European
country and bluegrass festivals such as TORINO (1988),
Folkest (Italy) , Toulouse Bluegrass Fest., Angers Bl. Fest.,
Dore L'Eglise Country Fest, CRAPONNE, NIEDERBRON, TREVILLERS,
MIRANDE (2003) (FRANCIA) , BAD ISCHL
(AUSTRIA), BALVE HOHLE JAZZFESTIVAL, MARLBORO fest. (GERMANIA),
THONDER fest (DANIMARCA), MILL MOUTAIN fest., GRONINGEN fest.
(OLANDA), Intern. Country Festival di MELIDE , LES DIABLERETS
(2002) (SVIZZERA), CEREHEXE (Belgio) etc .
They've also been featured in many TV music shows all over Europe
with other well known artist like (French singer actor) Johnny
Halliday.
They toured U.S.A. playing, among the others, the KFC Bl. Fest.
(Kentucky), the Strawberry fest. (California) Hotel Congress
(Arizona) and "The Station Inn" in Nashville/Tennessee,
sharing stages and audiences with great American country and
bluegrass stars like Bill Monroe, Doc Watson, John
Hartford, Chris Hillmann, Vince Gill, Nicolette Larson, The New
Grass Revival, The Osborne Brothers and The Whites.
Detour sound is a mixture of rock, country, rockabilly and
bluegrass remindin' some of today's top country performers like
Dwight Yoakam, Steve Earle, Rosanne Cash, Patty Loveless or
Rodney Crowell.
But the musicians' strong personality and professional attitude
add an unique, pleasant and tasteful flavour making every
Detour's show a real entertainment for the audience.
Led by the gifted singing, impeccable playing, and honeyed
harmonies of vocalists/guitarists Natalie Shelar and Jeanmarie
Peschiutta, the Detour Band shimmering blend of country,
americana and roots-rock made them one of the most widely
acclaimed artists to emerge from the alternative country scene.
It is their enthusiasm for what they do and persistence in
refining both their music and stage presence that makes Detour a
band with great potential.

Co-produced by
the band and Brandos drummer Tom Engels, their new album "Jukebox
blown" is the clearest statement yet of The Detour
Band rare balance of vintage music and contemporary attitude. It
lets you hear resonant echoes of stuff from lost decades:
unleashed vocal artistry emanating from swank clubs with flocked
wallpaper and customized matchboxes, unhinged dance music jarring
the floorboards with strong whiffs of rockabilly and honky-tonk.
The band's taste in material remains as impeccable as their
wardrobe.
"We draw from older music because we love it," Natalie
says. "The reason we love it is because it was grand, it was
simple, it was fun. That seems to be missing from today's music
and also today's life. People don't seem to be having a lot of
fun anymore, you know? We're all stressed out. So we look back
without becoming staunch about it, without losing the fun. We
take it at face value and enjoy it. We're all about enjoying
yourself, and trying to entertain people. When they come to see
you or put on your record, The Detour Band want to put smiles on
their faces."

SPECIAL GUESTS/MUSICIANS:
The fiddle player Joost van Es, leader
of the great bluegrass band 4-Wheel Drive.
One of the most spellbinding duo in american music, Arizona
singer Natalie Shelar and guitarist Jean-Marie Peschiutta, began
playing together 20 years ago and still going strong.
Their musical kinship is astonishing. Like a tightrope act, the
two explore the boundaries of a song, pushing at its edges while
never compromising its essential nature.
In the manner of great jazz duos, Natalie and Jean-Marie inspire
and urge each other on, trading lead vocals, commenting and
responding, streching out and digging in.
