FRANCO MORONE (ITA) |
Franco Morone is recognized and praised as one of the most gifted performers of the international guitar scene.
His first production, mostly educational ranges from blues to jazz, is played and recommended by many fans of the acoustic steel-string guitar. Adhering to the idea of the "folk process" in which traditional music, while retaining its roots, evolves continuously to remain fresh and current - Franco translates various elements of "folk music" incorporating contemporary styles and tunings. In that way, his collections of Irish & Italian folk arrangements produce new sounds from traditional sources.
Respected for the high quality of his performance, Franco artfully blends the echoes of the traditional with a variety of different influences in his original compositions.
His live performances can be soft and gentle, then rousing and impetuous, but always mature and personal.
He regularly
participates in festivals and often tours in Europe, the
US & Japan in addition to maintaining his teaching
activities with workshops and magazine columns.

"Your ears
will hang on every notes as he effortlessly weaves lyrical
melodies into huge fingerstyle texture, Morone reminds you how
truly boundless the fretboard is. Plus, Morone's intonation is
perfect, and althought his chops are monstrous, they never
distract from the music. If you dig Michael Hedges, you'll love
Running Home."
Jude Gold - Guitar Player - May 2002
"Morone has one of most identifiable sounds of anyone
playing fingerstyle guitar today"
Teja Gerken."
Acoustic Guitar - March 2002
"I had the good fortune of wandering into the Taylor Guitars
booth at the 2001 Winter NAMM Show and hearing this artist for
the first time. What an amazing performance! Franco plays solo
acoustic guitar in a variety of styles. He has impeccable
"feel", and the ability to play lush chord arrangements
and melody at the same time. Check out especially his 1998 CD,
Melodies of Memories."
Randy Omel
"The fluid, emotive, fingerstylings of Bologna, Italy's
Franco Morone, whose passionate playing won the hearts of the
listeners and prompted the first-ever encore among Taylor's NAMM
show performers."
